Where is it? Home to a deep-rooted history, Kayaköy, a veritable open-air museum, attracts the attention of both domestic and international tourists. Fethiye Kayaköy consists of two distinct settlements. One is a settlement built into the hillsides in the early 19th century, formerly known as Livissi. This entirely Greek settlement, once home to 3,000 people, was unfortunately reduced to ruins in the 1957 Fethiye Earthquake. The other settlement is Kayaköy.
What is it like? These ruined historical houses I mentioned cover the entire slope of a massive hill, creating a magnificent view. While it's now a complete ghost village and it's a shame that everyone has abandoned it, I don't know if it's necessary to say that it's definitely worth a visit. In this area, which once housed an average of 400 residences, it's immediately obvious that the houses were built so as not to obstruct each other's views and light. It's worth noting that in addition to the houses, there are also structures such as churches, chapels, customs offices, and school buildings.

Where are they? Located in the city center, the Amyntas Rock Tombs date back to the Lycian period and were built in memory of King Amyntas, known as the ruler of Telmessos. These rock-cut tombs are built in the Ionic style, carved from a single piece of rock. Did you know that monumental tombs, which come in various styles, such as temples or houses, were built for people of high status in society at the time?
